FULL TITLE: Deaths threats cause school board lockdown after teacher was handcuffed in video - while superintendent DEFENDS the $38,000 raise that started the scuffle

A Louisiana school board's office went on temporary lockdown after getting death threats from around the world in response to widely viewed video of a teacher screaming while being handcuffed at a school board meeting.

The threats have come from as far away as South America, Australia and England, as well as other U.S. states, Vermilion Parish School Board President Anthony Fontana told The Advertiser. He said they've been reported to the FBI and local police.

Middle-school English teacher Deyshia Hargrave was removed from Monday night's meeting, forcibly handcuffed and jailed after questioning pay policies during a public comment period.

The private market place or, heaven forbid, the tax burden is lowered to the point where mothers could raise their own children.

Leads to better children, doncha' know.

I got so sick of listening to teachers complain about pay. My revenge was to publish this column as guest blogger for Rick Hess of Heritage in his Edweek column:

http://blogs.edweek.org/edweek/rick_hess_straight_up/2011/08/teacher_pay.html

Someone posted it on Huff Post and they freaked out with something like 1500 comments (seems to be deleted now).

You should read your post carefully prior to hitting the post button, After having spent 10 years in the high school classroom could be read as a student’s statement.

“In spite of the never ending series of horror stories.”

The horror stories are the only ones that make the news.

The vast majority of public schools do a good job.

A lot of the southern states pay their teachers pretty low.
Some teachers aren’t worth what they make, high or low. But there are still some good ones out there. (My son is one of them, but I’m prejudiced) But even the good ones have often been educated by progs. And that’s the problem; college kids are being indoctrinated, just like they turn around and indoctrinate school kids, unless they really have their heads on straight. Only a few were fortunate enough to have been educated by conservatives.

Well, congratulations to your son, who I am sure is an excellent teacher -- but who is paid exactly the same as bad teachers simply because they've worked there the same amount of time.
