Philly, in those days, were relative crime free considering the era. Nowadays, with the Liberal Dems in firm control, it would be safer to be point on a night patrol in Helmand Province in Afghanistan--
Or, so I am told--
As to my personal view of Philly-- You guys old enough to recall Bill Bradley from the NFL and University of Texas lore? Bradley was a quarterback at Palestine High School (Just southeast of me here in the Big C) where he won the 1964 Texas 3A State Championship, the only one in the school's history. His football talents, including the reputed ability to pass with either hand, earned him the nickname "Super Bill." His running and passing skills gained him selection as a high school All-American.
His High School Coach, Luke Thornton, was one of the three guys my late, dear old Mammy was engaged to when my late, great old Pappy wooed and won her just after World War Two. So I was familiar with him and Super Bill's football talents in 1964.
Super Bill was to make Darrel K's University of Texas truly unbeatable but as things turned out, talent and such was not enough but old Bill became one heck of a Free Safety for the Iggles, three All-Pro selections 197173).
As the year came and went, the Iggles fell and fell and fell to the low level they now hold in my esteem making their ranking way below the French and just a hair above the Deadskins.
BTW Allegra's Old Earlers are looking good against Big's Pattycheaters--
Philly, like any city run for too long by Demoncrats, is a shithole. You are risking your life visting. Sports franchises, like the Patriots were, will be smart to build stadiums in the future that are not ‘in the city’ but way out in the country where the ticketholders live, because ticketholders are tired of having to wade through shitholes to watch sporting events.
