I never bought a sugared cereal for my kids,or any other junk food,no matter how they pleaded.
That’s what parents do.

As far as I know parents are still the food purchasers

More nannyism "for the children." Parents decide what their kids eat; the kids don't. And if the little darlin's would get off their butts and go outside to play instead of watching Youtube videos or playing SkyRim, I doubt obesity would be as much of a problem.
Once again, the matter is one of parenting, not regulation.

Oh good God.
Get off the healthy high-horse.
Every time we turn around they contradict themselves anyway...oooh, now eggs are healthy! Oops, now theyre not! Oh, yes healthy!
In the end it wont make one lick of difference.

Eggs can be boiled the night before and refrigerated. Oatmeal is easy to make and good. Grits, toast,... Maybe mom or dad will lose a pound or two thinking in advance and making breakfast instead of smoking pot.
Too many people are lazy in mind and body.

Whether Tony the Tiger is declaring Frosted Flakes grrreat or a manic bird is going cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs, food commercials remain mainstays of after-school TV even as childhood obesity has become a health crisis.
And BOTH characters were all over the TV screen back in the '60s, some evebn TOUTING the sugar content ... Quisp, for Qwazy Energy!
Kids played outside more, and ate at home more, and could play at their friends' houses and yards, no handhelds, less soda pop (though Kool-Aid was a big deal in the summer).
No fear of fats for kids.

Garbage food was available when I was growing up but we didn't have obesity. What has changed?
1. Way more fast food choices
2. Combined with parents who don't cook
3. Combined with children who don't move.

I blame ONLY parents for fat kids.
Exclusively.

“Healthy” by whose standards?
One or two generations back, our ancestors ate a lot more calories than kids do today... but were relatively healthy because they were active.
It is the reduction in physical activity that is causing the obesity, not the foods.
Half the world would love to have the problem of too much food.

Excuse me, but if eaten in moderation it is OK. I like cereal - mostly raisin bran, Life, Fruit Loops - but I’m trying to make homemade corn flakes.
