Darn shame. And you can see a couple of those types of planes in the pics.

“A follow up: What is the advantage for that sort of craft to fly at the higher altitude, knowing there’s a risk of succumbing to oxygen derivation?”

You can fly faster for the same amount of fuel burned. Less density altitude means less drag. Also, the pilot may have flown at an altitude giving more favorable winds.

“The flames erupted in the ceiling of the second floor in a Secret Service structure behind the Clintons’ home, a Secret Service spokesman told Fox News.

He said the Clintons were not on the property at the time. No injuries were reported.”

The Cirrus SR22T has an oxygen system. Service ceiling is 25,000 feet.

Ah. Well ... y'all can ignore my previous post.

“How many of them fly high enough to be pressurized?”

I have no idea. Do you have a better explanation as to what happened?

? Is the System a Sprayer and or Expanding Surface Type or what?

I seem to recall that some Systems have bladders on the leading edges of the wings to expand and crack the ice!?

Then again My brain is not what it was before the Induced Coma I was in last year at this time.

The cirrus anti ice system is a weeping wing deice fluid system. Basically it has a tank of isopropyl alcohol that weeps out the leading edges of the wings and tail and melts the ice. Again, this was not involved in this accident. The wx was not icing conditions.

He seemed like a great guy. At least there wasn’t a dog on the plane.
