You ever hunt them with dogs and a pickup?
started my dog hunting in southern cal. ( before 1972 we could tree mountain lions , bears, and all other tree game. now in cal. only raccoon, possum, grey fox )
traveled to Bakersfield and went hunting with men that ran greyhounds that caught and killed yotes. wide open spaces. dang near broke my back bouncing up and down in the back seat of that pick up. Lots of fun but you need lots of flat federal land or large track of flat farm land.
we now live near the border of Mo. and Ark. all hollars and draws and few pastures here and there. it sometimes takes me a hour or more to walk and climb a half mile to a tree or bay. no flat land.
Yea, that's where I was going with the question. I used to pheasant hunt in N.W. Kansas and the land owner whose farm we stayed at had a dozen greyhounds. We hunted with six one evening but didn't see any coyotes but they did catch a badger. Never saw anything like it, four dogs each had a leg and the fifth had it by the head.......
Old 4 wheel truck with flatbed on back and 6 compartment kennel to hold the dogs. Dogs would stick their heads out the windows and when he pulled a release cord from inside the truck cab, the sides would drop down and it was off to the races.
It was beautiful watching those greyhounds run like they're supposed to do......
I should add, we never saw any coyotes, he just let the dogs loose to let them run the country road.........35 MPH and they were just cruising and having fun
