This is really interesting stuff.

I take Metformin, 1,000 twice a day, and Glimepiride, 4 mg. I also do simvastatin.

Do you know if Gymnema can be taken if Metformin is part of your daily regimen?

And how important is NA R-ALA?

I thought about getting B1, but I see on my One-A-Day bottle that each pill features B1 at 90% of RDA. Do you think this would count?

These are just comments that popped up in my mind, so I thought I’d ask.

A very Happy New Year to you!

CA....

It is always good advice to consult with your doctor before adding or discontinuing medicine. However, doctors are *not* pharmacists, who are the real experts here, so it is best if you talk to them first.

And, if they are unfamiliar with Gymnema, or NA (Stabilized) R-ALA, try another pharmacist. It is really hard for even them to keep up to date, especially with drug interactions, which for some drugs and OTC stuff like grapefruit, can run to half a dozen pages in small print.

NIH information about Gymnema.

And about ALA.
