I just listened to a sermon on how bad we are at keeping our promises to ourselves, when it is God’s promises that are kept.

Yep - if we could keep all our promises, Christ would not have had to die for us.

Even Paul, who had met the risen Christ and been tagged to play a huge part in carrying the Word, lamented how he kept doing that which he knew was wrong and not doing all that he knew was right to do - perfect example of how weak we are no matter the conditions of the day.
