Stalin's NKVD started to round up the Kalmkys. Their crime, some had served the Germans. Of the 95,000 ethnic Kalmyks, about half died enroute or during their first winter in Siberia. Stalin's order was absolute. Ethnic Kalmky's were pulled out of the front line infantry and tank units and deported. Included were 21 Kalmyk soldiers that had been awarded "Hero of the Soviet Union." for their service in combat to the Soviet Union.
All I’m saying is that if Hitler had defeated Stalin, he would have easily eclipsed Stalin’s numbers.

The Kalmyks had suffered brutal repression and massive deportations since the Bolshevik takeover. So many of them undoubtedly saw the Germans as liberators--that is, until Nazi attitudes about race began to be implemented.

I’m saying that it was like pulling teeth trying to get even young Russians to admit any “remorse” over the Soviet past, because they could turn everything around to “but America did this, America does that.”
Nobody used the “let him who is without sin” line...but even here I don’t think it’s applicable. I think there is a moral high ground and reason to why the U.S. “won” the Cold War. It wasn’t just pure luck or draw of the market.

Literally he said that in 1930s the agency wasn’t entirely dedicated to political repression pursuing numerous cases which weren’t political.
The wording could have been chosen differently but his comment is factually true and nowhere is a defence of purges.

Very little with the exception that it was easier for Kalmyks who were deported but stayed free while the Japanese were effectively imprisoned.
Another important aspect is both cases are history. The Soviets recognized Kalmyk deportation as a crime in freaking 1956 and you are trying to sling it on a ‘Putin regime’.
I have more than once explained you that so-called ‘Stalin rehabilitation’ is not going on for real in Russia and is just a new line on NWO propaganda.
I gave you links to polls showing exactly 2% Stalin admirers and you even managed to spin that saying that the majority of polled being indifferent to Stalin are as bad (although where goes your case of widespread ‘Stalin admiration’?)

Of all the Nazi f’ed up crimes, that was one of the worst. When they invaded, more than a few Soviet citizens thought the Germans were civilized and that salvation was at hand.
Then they stripped them naked, lined them up and shot them. They gassed them, hanged them, froze and starved them, and burned them alive.
It would be like a rape victim seeing a cop walk up and shoot the rapist... and then start unbuckling his belt.
Visiting worse evil upon those who think you will rescue them is one of the most foul things I can imagine.
