Xi’an (AsiaNews) – The only Catholic church in Zhifang, a village in the Huyi District, near Xi’an (Shaanxi), was demolished by force and without any reason.
The place of worship was built in 1999 with all the permits issued by the authorities. The demolition order was issued on 20 December.
The Via Crucis, the tabernacle, the vestments and the chairs were destroyed. Catholics were not allowed to come near. Protests were held in front of the town hall...

That could be true...but China's *real* Christians (as opposed to the "patriotic Christians") must do their Christianity in secret.

I’m not sure I understand your reply. China is in fact the largest christian country in the world by number of adherents. Communist governments don’t exactly produce the most honest information. I’ve been to communist countries. Propaganda is everything.
Most Christianity / Catholicism in China is on the down low so the numbers are not accurately reported by their government. But some estimated to be around 250 to 300 million.
The Chi-coms persecute/murder Tibetan Buddhists, Christians and any others who they see as potential subversives. They prop up murderous regimes in Africa, intimidate neighbours in the South China Sea, and supply economic aid and nuclear technology to a cultist regime in North Korea. Never mind. I'll go step by step.
The writer of the article claimed the church was destroyed for "no reason".
I posted a three word reason why the government would destroy a church: Godless Communist Country.
You told me my three words were wrong, because there are lot of Christians living in China.
However, my three words are not wrong, because:
1) China is a country.
2) The government of China has decreed that China is an atheist country. Atheism is the professed national "religion" of China.
3) China is a self-professed Communist Country.
Thus, according to its own government, China is a Godless Communist Country - and therefore it should surprise no one that they might destroy a Christian Church.
China’s communist government is acting to ensure social stability.
Meaning they’re acting to remove a potential threat to the Chinese Communist Party.
They’re also doing the same thing to the Muslims.
Yes China is a country but they’re not Godless. that was my point.
