I got a Christmas village bundt pan, A new electric toothbrush, and a daily calendar with pictures of Italy. And I just ordered myself a pair of new hiking boots that are waterproof. I tend to be uncoordinated and fall into Creek’s easily. Can’t wait to hit the AT in them!

New Year’s Eve? Haven’t given it a thought. We normally don’t do much of anything. Unfortunately we are on the East Coast this year, so we can’t watch the ball drop at nine :-(

My husband is the least romantic person there could possibly be. But he is reliable, works hard, keeps his word, and loves my dog. And our interests and goals match. So all in all, that’s pretty good! Could be a lot worse.

What kind of boots did you get? I’ve been trying to find lace-up waterproof boots for ages, but reading reviews on them is so frustrating.

I got my husband a music stand for Christmas, and took months to decide on one; on Amazon almost everything has excellent reviews and lousy ones for the same thing ;-)

Me too. It was nice being on the West Coast where we could celebrate New Year’s at nine :-)

I made something new for Christmas dinner, semolina gnocchi. It was Lidia’s recipe and turned out really good. I just finished the last of it for lunch today.

You heat 4 cups of milk with two or three bay leaves and about a tablespoon of fresh thyme. I used one teaspoon of dried. Then whisk in 1 cup of semolina flour. Cooking tell it is nicely thickened. Then add 2 tablespoons of butter, one egg, and 1/2 cup of some cheese mixture. She called for tallegio And that cheese that is similar to Parmesan. padra grano or something. i used to Romano and provolone. I thought it was like insult so I added some of that before adding the egg, so I could taste it. When I took it all and rolled it up and wax paper into a loh. Chilled it then cut it into 1/4 inch rounds. And layered those, shingle style, and an 11 x 7” baking dish. And dotted it with butter and sprinkle on about 1 cup of that same cheese mixture. Baked it at 375 for 30 minutes. The top with nicely browned and bubbly.

I love copper. It is my favorite metal. However the only thing I have copper in my kitchen is a KitchenAid mixer. It is copper plated and is absolutely gorgeous. I shine it lovingly about every other day. It was ridiculously expensive and hubby got it for me for my 50th birthday.

They were timberland ridge something or other. Or something rishe. Let me Check my email and I’ll let you know.

Yeah it is kind of crazy how some people can say an item is the best they’ve ever had and another says it is the worst. I bought these at Academy sports online because I could return them for free or return them at the store. Since I couldn’t try them on that seemed like the best bet. But I did read the Amazon reviews and most people seem to like it. Said they were comfortable, and people that walked through creeks said they were waterproof.

keele ridge. I ordered an eight and 8 1/2. I have wide feet, so I got the larger size just in case. I’ll return one of them to the store. Although they offer free return shipping, since I purposely ordered one of them the wrong size I don’t want to make them pay for it.

I think that’s a classic way to eat crepes in France.

(Your agg-only crepe idea is low-carb friendly, too.)

Thanks, I will look for them. It’s a good idea to buy two with the idea of returning one, so at least you have a pair that works immediately. When it comes to some things - shoes and bags especially - I think it’s a good idea to buy two when you know you’ve found a good thing. Invariably, that ideal shoe isn’t made anymore, when you need a new pair.

I know there are can be ‘fake’ reviews on Amazon; but it seems that even with the authentic ones there can be widely differing reactions to products.

I’ve never made brownies with champagne before. I have made them with Bailey’s and they are good. I have a brownie recipe with whiskey that I have set aside to try as well.

Just returned from Maryland after Christmas with friends. We picked up 4 huge crab cakes from G&M Crab outside of Baltimore. Having them for New Year’s Eve.

Our heater died two weeks before Christmas. Our water heater died one week before Christmas. Everybody on my list got food baskets because we couldn’t afford much else. I made spiced apple brandy jelly, cranberry bourbon jelly, candied citrus slices, wine salt, and an old Warcraft friend saved my butt with an easy cookie recipe. Got it all finished and packed 2 hours before we were due for family Christmas, and now I’m not cooking SQUAT for a week or so.

much

maybe

except I picked up some smoked butter that would be realllllly tasty with shrimp or flounder or even roasted chicken and I’m sure I could think of all sorts of good stuff to do with it. HELP ME I’M AN ADDICT.

seems a lot of the reviews I read on Amazon and most especially elsewhere, people get paid to write them. I don’t trust those in the least.

They came today! That model definitely runs narrow. I’m ending up taking the 8 1/2 just because the eights were too tight. I almost thought the eight and half’s would be too tight. But I wore them around the house for a while and forgot I had them on my feet. So that’s a good sign :-) originally I was very aware of the tightness around my left foot.

That’s right, it would be a good idea to order the same brand if I find I like them. They always change models about the time mine weat out. I’ll try to remember.

These were on sale, $30 off, at Academy sports. I’m not sure if the sale is Still on or not. That’s why I picked this model :-) I’m all about saving money.

LOL me too!
I have times when I’ve decided I need to do something besides the fact. So I plan on all these other projects, just eating sandwiches or something. But I always end up back in the kitchen!

What would our anonymous group be called? Chefs anonymous? Cooks anonymous?
