There's always been asian american republicans. It's not like they came out of nowhere. They've been part of the Democratic Party, they've been part of the Republican Party. Conservative undercurrents have long simmered in the Asian American community. Nowadays chinese republicans are mobilizing, politically and digitally and getting Internet savvier.
or am I uninformed? lol
...............and
They don’t vote. That’s where jury duty gets its draftees. In SF Gays run the town not the 33% Chinese. They wouldn’t run down the town like it is now. They tend to mind their own business.
Asians get absolutely nothing from the Democratic Party. Several early Asian GOPers were targeted by Democratic tactics. Why they vote for libs is mostly expectational inertia. They’re minorities they’re often concentrated in urban areas so they’re supposed to vote lib. Can’t blame them entirely though. The GOP is much more incompetent at reaching out beyond its base. I don’t mean by simply pandering. The asian american vote was up for grabs in the nineties and early 2000s and the GOP strategists just sat around doing nothing. The GOP could make inroads but continues to just let the Dems define them and nod apologetically and promise to do better when they’re called racists.
