A mastiff will eat you out of house and home.
A pit bull will just eat you.
Naw. Pit Bulls are big babies for the most part unless they are made to be mean. Dog fighters use Pit Bulls because they are muscular with strong jaws, sure, but mostly because they are so malleable. They can be good fighters if mistreated and made to be mean or a great family pet but they do have one bad trait; they can be very aggressive around strange dogs if not properly assimilated. This is their protective streak coming out. Doberman’s are the same way; bad rap but great dogs. Just watch out when they get to be 10 or more years old. Sometimes they get wires crossed in their brains, probably from to much inbreeding over the decades, and they can turn on an owner. Put them down at the early signs of this behavior change. Best for everyone involved; including the dog.
Yes, there are some bad stories and incidents with Pit’s, and if a thorough investigation is made; a logical reason can be found. Something like a kid teasing the dog every time it goes by the yard or someone doesn’t know how to break up a fight between two dogs, any dogs, but Pit’s always get the notoriety. Lab’s are actually more vicious than Pit’s but the media doesn’t up-play those stories.
