What a horrible, terrible faux pas, if indeed it was that.

If somehow evidence turns up that it was worn on purpose, her wedding invitation (I would imagine she got one) should be revoked.

It might be an heirloom, but, whatever.

When The Arabic word for “black” is almost identical to the word for “slave”, and human trafficking is the norm in certain islamic countries, I am not going to waste my indignation over a piece of jewelry.

Years ago, I committed a similar faux pas, appearing as a Confederate general in a beautifully detailed hand made costume, at an office Halloween party.

Believe me, the opprobrium was WAY out of proportion to my offense.

I suffered for MONTHS after that.

It’s only a “faux pas” for any who care to wear their feelings on their sleeve, IMO. You sure you wouldn’t be more comfortable over on DU?

As others have said in comments here, her response should have been “sorry, not sorry”, especially since both she and the future “royal” are of common birth, not having pretense to stand on. Also, since Ms. Markle likely claims to be “black”, she’s the larger “racist” in this exchange since she’s agreeing with the old “one drop rule” used by the Kluxers since they began.
