With the possible exception of Luke Skywalker, every man in the movie is portrayed as a reckless hot-shot who constantly makes dumb, risky mistakes and has to be bailed out by the much wiser and intelligent women around them. Come to think of it even Luke Skywalker was portrayed as inferior to the barely-an-adult Rey in both skill and wisdom.

Also, the big baddie Kylo Ren has all the intimidation value of your average ANTIFA member. He comes across as a spoiled "special snowflake" millennial with daddy issues. He spends more time talking about his feelings and throwing temper tantrums than displaying any real menace. Darth Vader is turning over in his grave (or ash pile I guess).

SPOILERS:

They didn't do a good job at all with Luke's character in this film. In the previous films, Luke sees good in Anakin and works through the whole Return of the Jedi to convince Vader to turn to the good side, and finally achieves it. Yet in this film, when he sees the dark side in Kylo, he just tries to kill him in his sleep?

Star Wars VI: Return of the Jedi - Darth Vader's Death

Here is one of the greatest scenes in any movie I have ever watched. The Last Jedi completely negates it.

Agreed.
Poe Dameron is constantly put down by his female superiors, whether Lea or the purple haired woman. I understand if she doesn’t want to tell Mr. hot shot the plan, but at least SAY you have a plan but I will not discuss it with you.
The black guy is corrected by the Asian chick.
Luke is challenged by Rae who ends up with the books but magically knows everything anyway.
Kylo Ren is put down by Snoke, mocked by peers, a man-boy who only comes into his own when he offers Rae a place beside him and she refuses. It was probably the closest thing to love he’s capable of.
Every man was put in his place.

If a white guy is smart, compentant and strong, he’s only allowed to be the villain in modern Hollywood. If he’s the lovable Dad, he’s either stupid or clumsy or ignorant, always saved by superior Mom.

To quote Dr. Jordan Peterson, women who had bad experiences with me cannot distinguish competence from tyranny. And media is now bereft of strong GOOD men.

Even Luke is taken down a few notches, from the revelation he tried to kill his apprentice to hesitating to burn down the tree.

Luke gets a pass as the nonviolent white guy hero who dies, but STILL gets overshadowed by the new future, a white girl.
