I’m not sure either why one would want such a large home. Although when you get a contract of $166 million dollars, one needs to spend it on something I guess! (My same thought when I see a Bentley or Ferrari, etc.)

I got a real fancy brochure for a new home going up near us. (Modest neighborhood where the old homes on a decent lot are torn down, and then the entire lot is used to build two large fancy homes with about 100 square feet of lawn).

It had the master bedroom with huge walk-in closet and huge bathroom. Then something like five other bedroom “suites” for the kids. Each with their own bathroom and smaller walk-in closets. Plus 2 or 3 other bathrooms for the basement recreational area, the tv room, etc.

Not for me! When our kids were little we would visit friends that lived in a huge house. It would take forever chasing down the kids to get them when it was time to come home. Three different staircases for the kids to get away from mom and dad - they thought it was great fun!

Great donation by this guy. I know it is for “special needs” kids, but I imagine that some of these kids might be up for cleaning, yard work, etc. Might be great therapy and show to them how important and vital they are to the community.

You make a lot of sense. But I did always figure I’d make a good eccentric millionaire. I’d have one room with a great, big Christmas tree in it year-round. And probably rent out most of the rest to college students, who I’d regale with stories about the horrible fate of the fictitious original owner who went mad. Then take off for the weekend after cutting the power and phone lines. Stupid college students and their cell phones. I’d’ve gotten away with it if it weren’t for you pesky kids.
