Roy Moore was a flawed candidate.
SO WAS DONALD TRUMP.
So, what's your point? Are we to ignore the reality that any candidate we would want to elect has to run not only against the RAT, but the media, and the GOPee?
Moore had a lot of obstacles; the GOPee shouldn't have been one of them.
Candidates come and go. The GOPee remains. No candidate can reasonably expect to run against all of that and win.
Conservatives want a candidate who will reform the Swamp. The Swamp doesn't want to be reformed.
THAT was the 'problem' with Roy Moore. To think it would be different with a 'better' candidate is wishful thinking...something akin to lefties thinking socialism would work with better people running it.
The 'quality' of the candidate is, at this point, irrelevant. Roy Moore was taken down by 'friendly' fire.
Trump is a gifted politician. Moore stunk on ice. Besides that, Trump didn’t run as an Evangelical leader but a bombastic Mr. Fix-It businessman. Also, the charges against Moore were way worse and made much more credible by Moore’s own lackadaisical defense of himself.
Let’s say McConnell stayed out and Brooks finished 2nd and went into a runoff with Moore. What makes you think Moore wouldn’t have won that runoff too? He finished third in a three-way race.
