I first saw it at the Carthay Circle Theater in Los Angeles in May, 1958, and was absolutely bedazzled.
Pi$$ed me off I saw no evidence of aliens at Devils Tower this summer.
I saw it when it first came out and absolutely HATED it! Can't believe that Dustin Hoffman was cast as the lead ( just oh so very miscast! ) and it's really a smarmy movie.
I've seen it again, many decades later, and don't "hate" it as much...but yes, did, basically, watch it for the music.
There are several other movies that I detest, but didn't post about them ( THREE WOMEN, DOCTOR ZHIVAGO, BONNIE AND CLYDE, and many more ), because my list is very long and re THE THREE WOMEN, some aren't all that "loved" .
But since some were mentioned, on this thread , I'll add all of the LORD OF THE RINGS movies ( hated the books and THE HOBBIT as well!), THELMA AND LOUISE, SOPHIE'S CHOICE, all STAR WARS movies after the first 3, and EYES WIDE SHUT.
I usually don't go to see/watch on T.V. movies which I have read the reviews of and know I will hate, so there are probably a lot more movies I could list, that I haven't seen. ;^)
Somewhere in Time -Christopher Reeves.
Every single woman I know loves it...
Mama Mia. An in-law of mine kept bugging me to watch it, but I always found a way to get out of it, One day she poppped in the DVD when we were visiting and I was trapped. I endured about five minutes of it (which consisted entirely of a group of girls running through a town giggling), then for my own sanity I had to excuse myself.
Stripes. It was OK the first time I saw it, but I was forced to watch it 3 more times visiting family and came to loathe it.
Oh my...our first disagreement about a movie/play. LOL
:)The Kids hear Polar Express they break out sing”Hot Chocolate”The kids hear Frozen they sing “Let it go”.They hear Hocus Pocus they sing “I put a spell on you” just to bug me.It’s so funny.
Never have & never will understand his appeal.
The ONLY thing "nice" about it, was where it was filmed!
Loved the story, but the movie just did not do it for me.
We have Water World on 3 different media. Damn the critics.
What about Bob.
= = =
Ditto - What about Bob.
+ 1
It’s a possibility, but the tune I was thinking of was by Matty and Mark with backup by Luke and Johnny.
THANK YOU! Here are my feelings on “A Christmas Story”:
This is a vomitously bad piece of low-budget cr@p, featuring horrendous acting; characters that make you want to bludgeon ALL of them to death; lots of cursing which uses the Lord’s name in vain (in a supposed Christmas movie!); a depressing storyline that tramples upon a pathetic childs one pathetic wish, and in the end reinforces that his wish is indeed pathetic and harmful, and that he is and always will be a loser (while being anti-gun too); manages to destroy the belief in Santa Claus for any poor unsuspecting child forced to watch this piece of s**t; shows department store elves/Santas helpers as sadistic, terrifying little trolls; and a textbook example of how NOT to treat a child, as illustrated by parents who should have been sterilized at birth.
Its sort of a live-action Charlie Brown, minus Snoopy. It would be interesting to know how many potential suicides, who were on the fence, went ahead with their plans after watching this cesspool of despair.
My wife and her family think it’s great. I literally refuse to watch it. I saw it once long ago and could not believe how bad it was. Years later, I gave it a second chance, and realized it was exponentially worse even than I remembered! Never again...
I walked out after about 15-20 minutes.
I rewatch that every year around this time. ; )
Anything with Barbara Striesand, Bette Midler or Jane Fonda.
I’ve never seen Gump, no plans to either.
Nope.
Another ship came by with a load of ping-pong balls, pumped them into the Titanic and it floated safely into harbor.
