The First Amendment is not a magic forcefield against consequences of free speech. Free speech is a two-way street. You have a right to say what you want. I have a right to respond to it if I so desire. We both bear the consequences of any reaction to our respective speech. It could possibly cost one or the both of us our jobs.

Note no one prevented this reporter from making his false report. Are you under the mistaken impression that he was?

Do you think calling for the ouster of political figures you don’t like violates their free speech, too? How is that any different from calling for a reporter making a false report to be fired? Does Trump have any authority over HR at the Washington Post? No, I think even you would admit that he does not.

You really don’t understand the First Amendment.

Maybe I misunderstood the original statement. I thought we were talking about Lindsey Vonn’s remarks, not those of the reporter. I largely agree with the substance of your post, but I think your last line was uncalled for and out of line.
