We can hear it about this time of year in middle-of-nowhere West Virginia.
Neighbors very far away. No traffic. Nothing running.
We hear it this time of year because there are no insects or animals making noise at night. Has to be very still, and we can only hear it inside.
The only possible explanation I can come up with is some pipelines several miles away. I’ve cut power and gas to eliminate anything in the house.
Luckily, it’s not loud enough to be disturbing. We really have to purposely listen for it to hear it, but my wife and I both do.
