This is way under recognized - well meaning doctors do extensive work ups to find out why young stoners are mysteriously vomiting - first, ASK THEM IF THEY’RE STONERS!
1. Place slightly less than full large plastic bottle of water in the freezer.
2. “OK Google set timer to ninety minutes.”
The question is, Why ?
Why are these reefer madness stories starting to appear ?
Isn't the gummint getting its share ?
You got pain in your gut? Smoke some more weed! Medical marijuana is the cure for everything! Which probably leads to this syndrome.
As an old saying goes, there comes a time to put old habits on the shelf and thank the Almighty you’ve survived your youth. Vomiting would seem to be an alarm clock.
I can only speak for myself, but as someone used to smoke, and also has occasional back trouble, being high actually made me more aware the pain and did nothing to reduce or eliminate it.
I knew a 20-something about 3 years ago who was hospitalized for uncontrolled vomiting and anxiety that accompanied it. It was treated by medically induced coma for 2 or 3 days, then once out of the coma, a couple more days of observation, and slow introduction of food. It worked. What I did not know then was that this person smoke weed. He was perplexed why this mysterious illness occurred after he turned 20.
About a year later, he went to CA to “make good money” as he had a “friend” who owned weed farm designed to grow “medicinal quality MJ”. He told me how much dinero he could make farming MJ for his friend. (When asked him why an MJ farmer would not just hire illegal aliens instead paying him a very high wage... never got a good answer). He was in CA for one week and had to be hospitalized for the uncontrolled vomiting and anxiety. I understand the ER Drs kept asking him if he was on drugs, which he kept denying. I don’t know what blood tests they did or anything else, but eventually they induced him into a coma to treat him. Once he was out of the CA hospital, he returned home. Eventually I learned that he had an alcohol and drug abuse problem, but we don’t cross paths anymore. This article makes me think I encountered a person with CHS.
Wow, sounds miserable. Probably so.
They’ve known this for years.
Described in medical lit in 2011.
AWESOME!
For poor people, pot is medicine not because they want to, but because it is all they have.
Look, I hate and despise poor people the same as the next guy, but to deny them this palliative is immoral and cruel.
Pot does not rot the brain.
Pot does not make the brain look like swiss cheese.
THC is also produced by the body. That THC also does not rot the brain.
The condition is well recognized and we ask pretty much anyone under 40 with chronic hyperemesis how much they smoke. We get the same answer every time. "I smoke to settle my stomach".
My guess it is the vaping, smoked for 40 years and never had a problem, about 6 months ago started vaping, much cleaner BUT you can get a ton of THC more than you did with weed. I got sick once with too many “hits” and backed off of the device. With the “goodies” candy and cookies and tea not hard to get too much which was just not possible before.
In small amounts, its a stimulant. In larger amounts, it becomes a depressant. But in extremely high amounts, it can become an hallucinogen.
Personally, I dont believe the typical smoker/toker could ever smoke enough to hallucinate. Theyd have passed out long before that happened.
But after watching an episode of Bong Appetit the other day, I can see how a person could easily zoom past the first two stages all the way into Timothy Leary territory.
I can also see how a diet like that would lead to bazooka vomiting while talking to dead relatives in the ER.
Well after you get the munchies and eat twelve creme filled donuts and a large bag of cheetos anything can happen. :-)
Kid stuff ... alcohol can make you puke the first time you use that drug.
I find that very interesting. Its definitely not a panacea, as they have you believe.
