I suspect Judge Moore courted girls under 18 but of legal age in Alabama, when he was a single man. I suspect that included parental permission (as even the accusers have attested), kissing (as several have claimed), and definitely no sex (or that would have been claimed). In other words, he was a perfect gentleman in the southern tradition.
Judge Moore met his wife when she was a teen, but they didn’t date until she was over 21 and divorced, and they married when he was 38 and she was 24. There are not even claims that he has expressed interest in another woman since he married.
I personally disapprove when adult men older than 21 or so pursue girls who are 16 or 17, but his claimed conduct (other than what one accuser says happened 40 years ago, at a claimed age of 14, which is not even consistent with the other accusations) was not illegal or even particularly egregious. Whatever you think of that alleged conduct 40 years ago, it’s clear that his life has been exemplary since then or someone would have found a woman willing to make claims for the right price. Judge Moore would certainly have my vote.

I think you precisely summed up my position. Not thrilled that a 32 year old dated a 17 year old. Something if I did (and I would have been secretly thrilled to do, I mean come on!), I would never want to tell anyone about it, not friends or family.
But it was only KISSES and was CONSENSUAL and it was 40 freaking years ago! God. I am not particularly proud of things I did when I was younger either. I’ve made racist comments. I’ve hit on girls a little too young. I’ve betrayed friends.
I would challenge someone to present to me the image of perfection historically or otherwise.
