Doesn’t sound good.
.
Football is such a dangerous sport. Hope he is okay.
Especially when spear tackling. Guys at that level know proper form. If they don’t use it and get hurt that’s on them.
Prayers up
Prayers up!!
That’s a problem
Football players need to take tackling lessons from rugby players. Do it right and there would be a lot fewer head and neck injuries.
That game has a history of dirty hits and injuries.
Pete Carroll sent his USC players to learn rugby to tackle correctly. They know how to do it without leading with their heads.
How come rugby doesn’t have these types of injuries. Get rid od helmets and the game will be safer
Pics, at link, don’t look good.
Prayers sent!
Does not sound good at all. I’d never let my boys play football. Just playing at the kiddie level causes changes in the brain.
You used to have 220-230 pound, non-steroid, non freak linemen in college and NFL. Now you’ve got 300+ pound 6’6” guys falling on quarterbacks. The level of speed and impact is like a car wreck.
NFL will die out due to some $100 mill+ verdicts with punitive damages. A dozen of those will do it in.
Also, taxpayers sick of the PC antics won’t vote to approve stadiums. It’ll be a thing of the past.
Still no news but I had heard the announcers say he was moving his hands. Not sure if that’s a good sign or not.
What a wasted life.
Gulp. Let’s hope for bruised nerves, not transected nerves.
On the stretcher car, he had his hands covering his face. So, arms seem to be good.
His feet were limp, to either side, in the pic of him on the ground :(
Hopefully, whatever this is, is temporary...or, at least treatable to regain full use of his legs.
A few weeks ago in Bills vs. Saints, I watched a player on the Saints make a similar tackle on a kick-off. He went limp and dropped immediately like he had taken a gunshot through the head. He didn’t move at all that I saw
I just thought - his football playing is done. His paycheck is done. He’ll be lucky to walk again. Few fans, and certainly not the NFL, will remember or care what happened to him.
If he was grabbing his back that badly, he could have a burst fracture of one of those vertebrae, which would mean his arms are fine, but the bone fragments damaged the lower spine. Hope not.
The NFL lost me — but I don’t want ANY player to be hurt!
Prayers for his quick recovery and this just one of those hard owie moments that happen!
:(
Praying for him...
I like Shazier. Hes a excellent player and wish him full recovery and return to the game. He frequently tackles head first and has pissed me off in a number of games in the past when my teams played them. Dangerous for him and the opponent.
