WORD FOR THE DAY
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of Word for the Day. (PILLORY) [phonetic]
hear it pronounced
(part of speech - Noun or verb)
Definition
1 : a wooden frame for public punishment having holes in which the head and hands can be locked
2 : a means for exposing one to public scorn or ridicule
Did You Know?
In days gone by, criminals who got caught might well have found themselves in the stocks (which held the feet or both feet and hands) or a pillory. Both of those forms of punishmentand the words that name themhave been around since the Middle Ages. We latched onto pillory from the Anglo-French pilori, which has the same meaning as our English term but the exact origins of which are uncertain. For centuries, pillory referred only to the wooden frame used to hold a ne'er-do-well, but by the early 1600s, folks had turned the word into a verb for the act of putting someone in a pillory. Within a century, they had further expanded the verb to cover any process that led to as much public humiliation as being pilloried.

Fortunately, Pillory lost her campaign for the presidency.
Unfortunately, she hasn’t realized it yet, and still demands to remain posted up in the public’s eye.

Please forgive me if this word is a duplicate.
We are trying to breathe new life into this thread, and this is my first day on the job!
Please don’t pillory me...or even “FRillory” me.
Have at it folks!

If the stocks were designed to look like a cookie jar, Hillary! would have pilloried herself.

The mainstream, the Dems’ pet auxiliary
Reviles Donald Trump and loves Hillary
Though vindictive and mean
They treat her like a queen
As for Trump, they’d love stocks or a pillory

If the stocks were designed to look like a cookie jar, Hillary! would have pilloried herself.8<) Well, the stocks (and bonds and bribes and foundation gifts) did look like a cookie jar, and, well, she did put herself right inside them.
Classically, to trap a monkey with a cookie jar, you put the cookie inside a jar with a narrow neck at the top. Pillary (er, the monkey) then puts her hand inside the jar and grabs all of the cookies.
Monkey remains trapped by her own stubborn behavior: Will not let go of the cookies, but cannot pull her clenched fist out of the jar.
If Pillory had dropped her hundreds of millions extorted from world governments by her Clinton Foundation when she first obtained the stepping stone of Sec of State, if Pillory had actually been using any fraction of wealth and power of her Clinton Foundation for tangible good charitable purposes, if Pillory had dropped the extortion practices of her Clinton Foundation after she publicly resumed her decades-long presidential campaigns .... The cookie jar would have dropped off of her wrist, and she would have been President.

Personally, I would prefer to see her in "bonds".
