While there is truth here, I think the better comparison is if they asked you the next day whether you talked about beer on the phone with your friend and you replied ‘no’.
I think it would be more like “Did you talk to your friend on Tuesday Dec 15 2016 at 3:01 PM about the subject of beer? Did your friend ask how many beers were in your refrigerator? Did you tell your friend how many beers you had in your refrigerator?”
