I can’t complain about later written songs without displaying a great one:

This one was written in the early 1800’s. But updated just a few years ago by Chip Davis. An amazing piece of music.

And a wee bit is correct. But a wee bit of anything doesn’t classify it as a Christmas Carol.

The list is of Christmas songs, not Christmas carols. Christmas carols are a subset of the broader category of Christmas music.

All of the songs listed are, by any reasonable definition, Christmas songs. "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer" is a Christmas song.

Calling it a carol would be a stretch, I'll give you that. :-)

I guess our problem is that we expect more from the “things” attached to our most important holiday. You are right, I mislead myself concerning the difference between the two. But Christmas songs like these, in my mind, are just for making money and not celebrating the greatest of days in our earth’s history, the birth of the Lord. I might be a wee bit stubborn on any other approach other than true love of the event and not the residual that can be scraped off of it. My apologies. I guess I’m a little selfish.

Maybe I should be a bit more understanding. I certainly prefer "I'll Be Home for Christmas" though.

Thanks for the reminder.

I am contrary here but I think we should sing “Joy To The World” all year long.

I LOVE Have a Holly Jolly Christmas!
It is so fun. It always perks me up. Like Jingle Bell Rock. I just ordered today a Moose toy for myself that sings Jingle Bell Rock so I can feel Christmassy. I don’t have much in Christmas deco around me. Thought that might help.

As long as we keep ‘Walking’ Round in Womans Underwear’ I’ll be happy.
I ROTFLMAO whenever Mark Levin plays it.

“Last Christmas, I gave you my heart but, "
#whamaggedon !! Also Springsteen's rendition of Santa Claus is Coming to Town. He can't even do that song without sounding like he's been trying to make a bowel movement for the last 40 years.

Mr. RightField recently pointed out to me that

Joy to the World not written as a Christmas carol

Interesting.
