Mexican music over the radio, the horror!

Shut your lying mouth and stop the sarcasm immediately. This music is not THAT music about which you are talking. The present garbage is all politicized and it is vehemently anti-American. You can't deceive me at all. Get lost.

“Norteña is basically Mexican polka.”

Must be from the mass in-migration of Germans prior to WWI.

There was a reason the Zimmerman Telegraph mattered.

The Beeb did a series om changes in Mexico

Might be worth the time/bandwidth to read through the series.

#9: "Norteña is basically Mexican polka."

I always thought that too. Sounds just like polka, and easy to dance a polka to it. A lot better than rap anyway. A lot of Czech and Germans settled in Texas in the 1850s and Mexicans adapted the European culture!

It really is a Tex-Mex thing, and Mexicans far removed from the border consider Norteña be old fashioned music for hicks and rubes.

It should be noted that National Polka Festival is held a each year in Ennis, Texas. Texas has the largest concentration of people in of Czech descent in North America.
