The reason I was told why the project was concieved was that they wanted to establish a need for a room to be mandated for every nursing home in the state of Texas whereby two people could go in and have sex. Plus, they wanted to find out how many homosexuals there were.
After reading through all of the questionnaires, we found only one homosexual and he refused to finish the sexual part of the questionnaire so he was removed from the study. So, statistically they found NO homosexuals.
But the most surprising finding was that over 96% of the women said that their sex lives died when their husbands did.
And as a result of their findings they could not establish a need for a room to be mandated whereby two people could go into a specially prepared room complete with a stereo system and drinks and lounging robes and whatever the hell else they thought the old people would need in order to pleasure themselves.
We did bump into one nursing home whose head nurse hired nurse aides who would "service" the men and got the men to pay for their "servicing" for $25 from their Social Security checks.
But my point is - people in nursing homes are generally TOO SICK to even be concerned about their sexual needs. The women don't think about it and the men take care of it themselves if they are so disposed.
I did this work when "The Golden Girls" were first being broadcast. I hated the show and still can't watch reruns. This Norman Lear thing will be just as awful. It will end up as Lear's sexual fantasy par excellence.
Now, if he wanted to do a show about people in retirement communities - that is a different story. Yeah, they may be all sexed up. But not people in nursing homes.
I’ve heard unsubstantiated rumors of ladies dressed in scrubs or pose as family members who show up at elder homes to service the men. Well paid.
