My Dad suffered from a brain disorder similar to Altzheimer’s and,as he deteriorated,we were forced to place him in a nursing home.Given that the female to male ratio there was about 10 to 1 my Dad was quite popular in the year or so he was there (he died of chronic lung disease).

Yeah, they are a couple of ‘ladies’ after my step-dad. He’s still handsome and has awesome hair (which the patients love to touch). He wants NOTHING to do with them. They meander in and out of his room when we are there......and give my mom the”stink eye”. She gives it right back. LOL!

I had an uncle (widower) with Alzheimer’s/dementia & his kids had to put him in a facility. He was lonely & looking for a girlfriend & there were plenty of women looking for a boyfriend. Spending time together & holding hands wasn’t a problem, but he and one particular woman decided they were getting married. Both families objected and neither my uncle or the woman were in any mental state to make those sorts of decisions. They could not be reasoned with so the woman finally had to be moved to another unit. We figured my uncle would be heartbroken - he mentioned her a few times, but there were plenty of other women wanting to keep him company so he wasn’t lonely for long. He was a sweet guy - fortunately that did not change with the mental changes due to the Alzheimer’s/dementia. Very sad to see him decline and finally pass on.

I visited the home where my Dad stayed at lunch time. The home had fixed seating and arranged for at least one male be seated at each table who was mentally capable of carrying on a conversation. Dad was the only man seated with six women.

Dad finished his cake. One of the women said: “They give us so much to eat here. Would you like my cake?” Two other women immediately jumped in with “He ate your cake yesterday. He’s having mine today.” Dad just smiled and ate all the cake.
