My explanatio is that he was “snake bit;” that is, ultra-sensitive to the Demonrat charges of collusion with Russia even though it was after the election. I think he feared it would be viewed as a form of collusion, after that fact, even though it was just communication. That’s the only explanation I can come up with.

Flynn was always doing dumb stuff like this. He did the same when lied to the VP.
I think that's right. He must have assumed that his contacts with Russia would prevent him from getting a big Admin job.
As former DIA, he should have known that any calls to the Russian Ambassador would likely be tapped...
The interesting wrinkle is the Trump efforts against the UN anti-Israel abstention vote by Hussein Obama.
Trumps opponents could hype this as a potential Logan Act violation - except some of Trump's loudest liberal critics agreed with Trump on that one. LOL!
