We have 3 cats, after decorating the tree my wife lays down a 3-4 foot perimeter of tin foil around it. For whatever reason they will not walk on it.

Our cats (4 or 5) leave the tree alone.

Our 6 cats love foil. They’ve eaten a good deal of it off my solar oven. They eat everything. They climb everything. Nothing would stop them from destroying Christmas decorations or anything else. So, we don’t put up decorations.

Don’t get me wrong. They’re good cats and know to leave the usual things alone but let something new show up or something is in the wrong place and they’re all over it. My messy desk can be (is) piled high with papers but let one fall onto the floor and ATTACK! because it doesn’t belong there.

Then there’s the two dogs. The big one’s tail would have the tree knocked over in no time. The other one is blind and clumsy so would get lost and confused with a tree.
