I was raising about 3 clutches of lovebirds one year and just let them play in the tree while they learned to fly. Didn’t need ornaments, they were so pretty. Fortunately they were not adult lovebirds... those would have dismantled the tree in a matter of hours, stuffed the branches into their back feathers, and then spread them and the needles all over the house.
I visited a birding friend whose house ended a huge alley of green with rows of tall trees on either side. She described how it looked in the snow when it was covered with cardinals and blue jays. Like nature’s Christmas.
“stuffed the branches into their back feathers, and then spread them and the needles all over the house.”
We raised them also. Unbelievable what they could stuff into those back feathers. They did keep us entertained.
