My favorite - and closest - aunt & uncle always got a nice, room-filling tree, and they had some flocked ones that were gorgeous. Auntie had a set of pinkish lights and tasteful ornaments that she used as long as she was still putting a tree up at Christmas. In the 50+ years since, their tree(s) remain - in my mind - the "gold standard."
A different aunt & uncle had a well-remembered aluminum "tree" that was lit up from below by a lamp with a rotating "color wheel." It was gaudy - and now stylishly retro? - but I was fascinated by it. I remember worrying that their house would burn down because I had personal knowledge of how warm that lamp could get.

I was around 10 when those were popular and was always disappointed that we had an “ordinary” green tree when the flocked ones were so elegant. Today I prefer a green one, but I love the memory of those brightly lit in windows.
