*Delta officials said they alerted authorities because other passengers thought the two girls might be human-trafficking victims
*The two girls were detained for more than an hour, causing Ung to miss Thanksgiving dinner
*Ung says she believes she and her friend, who are Asian American, were racially profiled as human trafficking victims
*She said in this case, the passengers' suspicions were wrong and they should have just minded their 'own business'

Character like that is why your family didn't wait an hour and had Thanks Giving without you.
If I had a family member flying in on Thanks Giving, I'd certainly be there to pick them up and hold dinner... at least for a couple hours. Unless that person was a despicable, self-centered jerk.
Time to take a long look in the mirror and think about what's looking back at you.
I’d be grateful that someone was worried about me.
But that’s just me.
So anyone who looks like a human trafficking victim to you is subject to being pulled from your flight and delayed?
What does a HTV even look like and how would they be allowed to travel?
My first thought too...
If you see something, don’t say anything.
So, the new rule is “If you see something, mind your own business!”
I agree.
What does a HTV even look like and how would they be allowed to travel?
Read the bullet points at least.
She wasn't pulled from her flight.
She was sent to secondary upon re-entering the United States.
She went through a secondary inspection and was released.
An HTV is generally young, attractive, behaves in a submissive manner, is accompanied by another person who has a dominant personality.
I don't know what behaviors they displayed that made civilians think they were HTV, but you think that when CBP is tipped off to investigate, they should turn a blind eye?
Oh, that's right, you didn't bother to read even the bullet points.
“Ung says she believes she and her friend, who are Asian American, were racially profiled as human trafficking victims”
Yes? So?
As Palin used to say... Profile Away!
It was for their own benefit and safety anyway, way are they complaining?
The problem with flights is that being detained for an hour probably mean you arrive 24 hours later at your destination.
“An HTV is generally young, attractive -—— “
Prior to reading your reply I presumed an HTV victim would be young and attractive. With that in mind, race has little to nothing to do with it, and in a way sort of a compliment.
“mind your business” used to be our first motto on the penny.
Really, that’s what I thought. Ingrates.
Seems to me like they could clear that whole thing up in about 30 seconds and let them be on their way.
See was at her destination. Your comment only applies if you missed a flight
As my mom used to say get there early
Ah, thanks.
Guilty as charged...didn’t read enough or closely enough. You caught me. I hate people who do what I just did.
There is a big difference between someone worried about me and being detained for an hour. How would you like to be stopped and detained for an hour?
Imagine if a police officer came up to you as you left a store and asked "are you alright, it looked like you might be in some kind of trouble?" and then, after you said "No, I'm fine" detained you for a hour of questioning.
Personally, it seems like concerns about a traveler being a victim of a crime could be resolved much more quickly, without interfering with their rights.
It wasn't in my excerpt, and quite a bit down in a Daily Mail article (which can be a repetitive slog), but it appears that Atlanta is home for her.
Family didn't wait an hour for her, on Thanks Giving. Fills in a lot of blanks does it not?
When was the last time YOU went through customs and immigration? If you think it is like walking out of a store, it's obviously been a really long time.
My point stands - being detained and questioned for an hour is much more than DHS showing some concern that someone might be a victim of a crime. Very few people would be grateful for that level of attention in any circumstance.
