I can only imagine.

To Borrow a quote:

‘The past is a foreign country. They do things differently there.’

The old UCLA I went to in the ‘60s is a part of history.

Kelly had the Eagles offense go no huddle and rack up as many plays per game as possible. This usually meant a three and out, taking so little time off the clock that the defense was gassed by half time. Smooth.

Now, where's Harbaugh gonna go...Michigan coaches can't keep going winless against Ohio State and keep a job.

Harbaugh is sooooooo overrated it's truly sad.

Well, UCLA has the best pure passer in college football. With Chip Kelly’s leadership and innovation Josh Rosen will shine more than he already has. Next year UCLA’s offense will be dynamite, but if it wants to compete with the top tier teams Kelly will have to bring in a top rung defensive coordinator.

But back in those days the Coliseum was the home field for both schools, so the annual UCLA - USC game was basically a home game for both teams.

I saw many UCLA - USC games in the Coliseum. What a great rivalry!

In my opinion the 1960s was the golden age of UCLA football. It was great fun watching those teams play!

I would agree but you can’t forget the ‘50s.

I started there in the fall of ‘63 and things were pretty dismal the first two seasons. They fired Bill Barnes on Christmas Eve of ‘64, which I have always considered to be bad form, and brought in Prothro.

It was all uphill after that and what an enjoyable time it was. As compared to a lot of the later teams you always knew the boys were going to come through and, if they didn’t, it wasn’t because they’d stop playing.

Those were the days.

Red Sanders, who died in the summer of 1958, was probably UCLA's best coach. But as you say, the past is a foreign country. Those were the days of the Rose Bowl's "no-repeat" rule, when teams were not allowed to make consecutive appearances in Pasadena on New Years Day. Thus Sanders' 1954 Bruins, who brought Westwood its one and only National Championship, were not allowed to face Ohio State in the 1955 Rose Bowl because they had played in the previous one.

But it's hard to decide which is worse--the "no-repeat" rules of the 1950's or the twenty-first century practice of turning bowl games into mere playoffs.

No one can get along with Kellly. Players despise him. That’s college and the pros. He’s an arrogant ass.

Scott Frost was a bigger loss for the Ducks than Chip Kelly. With Scott calling the plays the Ducks decimated Florida State in the Rose Bowl. Scott left for Florida before the championship game with Ohio. The Ducks sucked without Frost even with Mariotta.

Frost is brilliant and Nebraska could become a contender if he takes the helm.

Michigan had a high turnover this year, but Michigan has to start seeing some results with Harbaugh starting next year.

The SEC can’t attract decent coaches because they know Bama is going to dominate

Oops.

How many national titles did Kelly win at Oregon? Not a one. His no-huddle video game style of offense was predicated on having players faster than the other team. Any time Oregon played a team that had faster linebackers than he did, that could get the qurtaterback Kelly’s entire scheme was exposed. In the PAC 12 that team was usually Stanford. His second time around in the PAC 12 was not be as easy as the first.
