I’ll never forget the white woman on the bridge in NO after Katrina refusing a water bottle from the news crew because it wasn’t chilled.

We’re on a river, have a water well and outside the city. Sadly, this neck of the woods has recently been “found” by city folk but it’d still be safer to hunker down at home than go anywhere.

“But, people who spend their last dime on Lotto tickets usually are tapped out when the storm arrives.”

When you’re down to your last two dollars, and there are two weeks left in the month, you might as well spend them on a Lotto ticket. You’re not making it to the end of the month anyway.

You are the most accurate person I have seen in a while.

Very good and I do hope people read what you wrote and think about what you didn’t say. This isn’t directed at you but your post made me want to throw in my 2 silver eagles worth.

In a regional emergency - get out or stay low. In a national SHTF emergency then if we are screwed the world is screwed.

Keyboard survivalists need to Spend 1 week primitive camping. Food, water and hygiene for a week is tough but doable if your experienced and ready.

Now put 100s of people around you trying to do the same who are not ready. Most of those people will be coming off their medicine (anti psychotic, anxiety or opiates) with no clue what they are doing. Anyone who has anything will get killed in about 7-10 days or less.

Crazy people or people with hungry kids will be desperate. Then people grouping up with violent Alpha types, .... it will be mayhem in short order. Hungry people can smell food a long way off.

There is no real ability to plan for it all. Luck, faith, skill, planning, luck and faith will be the primary factors in surviving. It will not matter how far in the woods anyone think they are people will find everyone except a few real way out real hidden people.

We will all have at most 7-10 days in a SHTF to get ready, get mean, get right with God and then hell on earth will be here. People are mean, violent, short sighted, stupid and crazy animals and when hungry they only get worse.

We can all build our groups but there will be bigger groups or smaller groups of people who are just more desperate and willing to try to take. We can try to hide but we will all be found. Boat, horse, gold silver, brass, lead, food stashes, .... depending on the scenario who knows but if it lasts more than a few days and is national - it will be ugly and very few can imagine what will happen or what to do.
