I honestly think people screaming bloody murder about this show, likely hasn’t even been watching it. Past the first episode, it isn’t even remotely worthy of the over the top scorn people seem to have almost rehearsed, especially those talking up that Orville show. That has all of the crap they say Discovery has, and isn’t shy about putting it in your face...yet they say Discovery is some ultra PC program.

As I noted, it’s not just that it’s a format for PC talking points - it also just stinks as a show.

Even the worst of the real ST outings, “Enterprise”, had an ensemble cast whom interacted well - that’s 99% of the secret of the real-mccoy ST franchise. With this latest dump of excrement you got one emo girl trying to work out her personal issues in the midst of an overwhelming boatload of CGI.

Also, you can take any one episode (or the rare two-parter) of the real ST outings and it stands on it’s own. In this emo-girl version it’s an ongoing Perils Of Pauline soap opera-serial.

Dunno about “Orville” as I haven’t watched it, but I understand it’s a comedy space parody. That it is being compared as an alternative to Discovery is something I would consider telling of to how far ST has fallen - i.e. the apple is the same as the orange. It’s embarrassing.
(If I want a comedy space parody, I’d go with Mel Brook’s “Spaceballs”.)

At any rate, people who like to watch Discovery should do it while they still can, before it’s taken off the intertubes.
