I was at his restaurant in Alexandria, VA a few years ago and they had Broken Leg Lager on tap. The tap handle was bent at a ninety degree angle, so I think he has come to terms with it.
He’s an A-hole but he’s certainly not “overrated.” He was probably the most dominant defensive player in the NFL in my lifetime.
So LT caused Michael who caused Blind Side which caused awards to Sandra B. A chain reaction?
The Theisman injury is the reason left offensive tackles are some of the most sought after and well paid positions.
Also that injury changed the way the league trys and protect the QB...
Depending on which QB (elite) the defense can hardly touch them.

2. The biggest impact LT had on the NFL was that he was solely responsible for the development of the one-back, 2-TE offense. Joe Gibbs put it in place for the Redskins in the early 1980s because he figured that the best way to deal with LT was to eliminate the idea of a "weak side" and make sure both offensive tackles always had a tight end next to them to help block LT.
Some things people are forgetting. In 85, the Redskins were struggling with Theisman at the helm. It was clearly evident he lost his arm. After the injury, Jay Shcroeder came in and won that game. Then they won 5 out of their last 6 and just missed being a wild card. Theisman getting injured was actually the best thing that happened to the Skins that season and for the reminder of Joe Gibbs first tenure there. Also, after that, Gibbs went out and obtained a fantastic left tackle - Jim Lachey - from the Raiders. A few years later when the Skins won their last Super Bowl, Rypien was sacked only 7/8 times the whole season.
Taylor also bragged about his cocaine use during his NFL career and how he hid it from the league.
