Franken has since issued an apology to Tweeden and faces a potential investigation by the Senate Ethics Committee.

Investigation, my ass. Why is he not facing expulsion?

I was listening to Mike Levin, I know, I apologize, but he said that there has not been a single disciplinary action on a single person under investigation. He also said that it takes an average of 9 years to do the investigations. So basically, the entire investigation thing means they don’t care.

There have been something like 600 ‘investigations’ in the last 30 years and no expulsions resulted.

It’s a ‘kick the can down the road’ play out the clock stall and let the storm blow over tactic.

Funny seeing leftists online say the first victim was asking for it because she was a Playboy model. Wut?!

investigation by the Senate Ethics Committee.
Investigation, my ass. Why is he not facing expulsion?

The purpose of the Senate Ethics Committee is to clear members of serious offenses. If needed it finds them guilty of some minor offense, but then allows them to claim they were "cleared" of any wrongdoing. And it allows them to avoid commenting "while the investigation is going on".

Both sides have members who need this regularly. So they keep it non-partisan. Most of them would probably be in jail, not just expelled if the "ethics committee" didn't approve of their insider trading, and business deals. They would not all retire rich if they had to live by the laws everyone else does and the ethics committee is what enables them to do that.
And the "fact-finding" trips would look pretty bad to voters if the "ethics committee" didn't say it was okay for lobbyists to be involved in planning what looks like a family vacation with the family paying much less than my family would. The "ethics committee" is how they justify so many perks of their position.

If the ethics committee was to become a jury of 12 random voters, A LOT would change in DC. But that wouldn't be a "jury of peers" for the elites who run the swamp.

And not even an investigation; a `potential’ investigation.
It’s just more `rat special pleading. Forget it Jake.
