My A1C was at 7.5. I read the book and started following the 36 hour fast regiment. It was actually kind of fun. Two months ago my BP was down (117/80)...I lost 9 pounds and my A1C was 6.9
My doctor said, "Whatever you're doing, keep it up.
Please explain. 36 hours fasting per week or continuous regime of one meal every 36 hours?
I’ve heard about the health benefits of fasting, but the Wheat belly diet and ketogenic diet both are reversing type 2 diabetes, lowering cholesterol, and resulting in large weight losses. Ketogenic diets are also recommended for people with epilepsy and other brain disorders. I lost almost 8 pounds in less than 2 weeks, and felt better than I had in years (increased energy, decreased depression, decreased anxiety) on the ketogenic diet. I had multiple occasions where I had to eat out, so I stopped the diet, but my husband and I are going back on it after Thanksgiving. We’re both diabetic and overweight, plus he has more severe medical problems. Here’s a link to WebMD about the benefits of a ketogenic diet:
