FULL TITLE: Partridge Family star David Cassidy, 67, is placed in an 'induced coma with multiple organ failure' and his family is told to 'prepare for the worst' nine months after revealing he had dementia

David Cassidy is in a coma and is suffering from multiple organ failure, according to reports.

The 67-year-old Partridge Family star and singer was rushed to hospital in Florida three days ago.

A source told TMZ that his condition was 'grim'. He is believed to have been in failing health for the last two months.

Doctors believe he could die if he doesn't get an urgent kidney or liver transplant.

His family have been told to prepare for the worst. The gossip site says they have gathered at his bedside.

A source told The Blast he is 'in and out of consciousness' and his condition is being monitored very closely.

Cassidy is widely known for his starring role as Keith Partridge on the 1970s series The Partridge Family.

In February, the star revealed he was battling dementia after he fell on stage during a concert in Los Angeles. His mother, actress Evelyn Ward, and his grandfather also had the condition.

He seemed youthful for many years. His alcohol and drug problems finally did him in. Saying a prayer for him.

There are probably better candidates to receive organ transplants than someone well down the road of senile dementia. Of course, as we saw with Mickey Mantle, money and politics play a big role in who ends up with a transplant.

Now I have no idea about his etiology of dementia, but if it’s liver failure... a liver transplant could help.

I saw an interview he did about his Mother’s dementia. It sounds irreversible... and I remember him describing her as wearing a diaper and not being aware at all. I guess my point is a transplant of a liver would be “wasted” since he will die because of the dementia. It simply sounds like his body is preparing to die since it was multiple organs... the body just starts to shut down before death.
