Most bands would have fallen apart with the death of their lead singer, especially someone like Bon Scott. Not only did they not fall apart, Back in Black was a monster of an album with over 50 million copies sold and makes numerous “best album” lists. I didn’t like any other AC/DC album with Brian Johnson but that one is one of my all-time favorites.

AC/DC with Scott, didn’t have a massive number of fans, although they were very rabid. Most people didn’t even know of AC/DC when Scott died. Back in Black was most peoples’ introduction to AC/DC and they ultimately discovered the back catalog with Bon as a result.

There is one name that is the reason AC/DC rebounded after Bon Scott and the main reason why BIB was so huge.

And he wasn't a band member.
