NYC for a Thanksgiving Without Liberals
moi | Nov. 17, 2017 | firebrand

Posted on 11/17/2017 12:59:07 PM PST by firebrand

If anyone is still without a place to have dinner next Thursday, or is thinking twice about spending Thanksgiving with liberals, a group is meeting at a nice Upper West Side restaurant (no, that's not an oxymoron), conservatives only.

Our tentative times are 2:30 and 7. Freepmail me to let me know if you are interested and which time is better for you.

” I love this city like only an idiot could. “

You are not an idiot at all. NYC was once the soul of this nation. Immigrants who came here to ASSIMILATE, to make a life for their children, ready to fight and die FOR this nation, not against it. That was the NYC my parents came to. The economic engine of this country. Unfortunately, our crafty communist foe recognized and exploited this volatile brew as the perfect place to foment their hatred and lies. It took hold with phenomenal success, and they now own NYC and virtually all U.S. metropolitan areas, not to mention our academic and entertainment institutions. Although tragic, it does not take away from what our ancestors built here.

Amen! NYC is the one of the greatest cities in America, especially during the Holidays.

I love the tree and lights at Rockefeller Center, I love the Radi City shows, I love the Christmas windows at Macy’s and Lord & Taylor.

I love bicycling through Central Park, visiting the Cloisters at Riverside Oark.

I love walking along the path on Shore Road under the Verrazano, I love walking across the B’klyn Bridge.

I love visiting St. John the Divine (especially the Vertical Tour) I love visiting the library, the Frick, Governor’s Island, I love sitting in Trinity and reflecting on America’s deep history found there.

I love visiting what remains of Little Italy.

I love Broadway, Times Square, I love going to The Feast Of Santa Rosalia. I love eating at Gino’s and buying bagels from Bagel Boy, Steve’s Bagels and Bagelicious.

I dearly and truly love New York!

This could be the last year for the Lord & Taylor Christmas windows, but definitely next year will be last if it even happens: they sold the building. I’m not surprised, as every time I go in there, the upper floors are empty except near the sale racks. The clothes are too expensive and usually not the kind of stuff people buy.

I used to love the windows. Now they are not so charming but still worth a walk past. Most people are not looking at them but putting them on their phones.

Oh, darn, Firebrand, I’m so sorry to hear that!!

I loved waiting for the announcement in the NY Post that the windows were up, and decorated for Christmas. I especially loved the L& T windows, so beautiful!

Thanks,

Ed

I don’t think so! I have only male cousins but they all have moved away to California.

Your post brought tears to my eyes. You certainly know the best of NYC - you’ve done things I’ve never done such as walk under the Verrezano! Next time you are in NYC, try Ess-A-Bagel which is my personal favorite. There are two of them in midtown. I just spent several days in Little Italy working on a show my husband was in and we caught a pizza at Joes on Bleecker. Highly recommend it!

Happy Thanksgiving and Christmas to you!

That sounds really great! I'll be at my sister's house, but if you were to set something up for some weekend after Christmas, I'd love to get together with some of my fellow Freepers.

Thanks, Divine Miss M!

I love reading your posts about B’dway, The Theatre, NYC, New Jersey, it brings back such great memories, too!

Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas to you, too!

How did it go? Hope you all had a great time. Wish I could have been there, but I haven’t been well lately. Next time, perhaps.
