I remember when Black music was very cool ,, 60s , 70s and even before . Rap is not music ,, it’s basically talking to almost the same beat in every song . Just about any body can do it , it’s real easy , no real skill involved and that’s why young minds of mush like it ,, ya don’t have to work hard to perfect it .
In a way these were rap:
—One Piece at a Time, Johnny Cash
—Devil Went Down to Georgia, Charlie Daniels
—Walk on the Wild Side, Lou Reed
—Convoy, CW McCall
He was always evolving and growing musically and definately worked at the lyrics. Some were quite clever, some stupid but there is always a fine line there I suppose. RIP.
Rap was invented for blacks guys that can’t sing and white guys that can’t dance.
