In a single evening, and at the hand of a single man, shootings at Mandalay Bay in Los Vegas added more than 500 to the pool of Americans who have to be treated for gun injuries.
The cost of these wounds cannot be calcuated. Beyond the financial expense, the societal and emotional expenses are difficult to imagine.
But researchers have quantified one corner of the problem: hospital expenses. More people die in hospitals from infections and their piss poor infection control procedures (or lack thereof) than from firearms. But no concern about that, right? Hospitals=death factories.
Back in the 1950s street gangs did not use guns very much. They were harder to come by and more expensive. Consequently, knives and clubs were more often the weapon of choice for street gangs.

But how much do/did the anchor babys cost us STILL ???
“That amount is more than 18 times last years National Endowment for the Arts.”

Right?! I was going to say this amount is for Chicago alone. With all the theft going on it really wouldnt surprise me.
