I disagree.
Judge Moore has publicly stated he does not know Corfman [the alleged 14 year old victim] and has never met her.
Unless the Washington Post can prove that Judge Moore did know her, this media firestorm is over.
Judge Moore’s campaign, or media friendly with his campaign need to find out if there actually is a court case in 2007 where Corfman engaged is very simliar behaviour. This has nothing to do as to whether or nor Moore knew Corfman, but as to the character of Corfman making the accusations. If it is shown that Corfman had her case against a Pastor thrown out bya judge because she attempted a shakedown of local pastors, then it goes to character of Corfman, WAPO and Mitch McConnel, McCain, et al. That is all it does.
WAPO as of yet does not have to prove a thing. They already flung the first arrow. Moore can press suit for defamation against both Corfman and WAPO, that would be a proactive approach, otherwise he will either drop out, lose the election, or win the election and refused his seat in the Senate. Its a real ball of confusion here that needs to be unwound quickly for his political sake.
The media firestorm is far from over. You have a religious firebrand of a candidate caught up in a sex scandal with an underage girl. (at least it wasn’t a boy) It has everything...sex, sex, sex and a perceived Holier-than-Thou Candidate. I am not knocking Judge Moore here, its just the way things look out here in tv land. I am surprised they haven’t been flashing a picture of a little girl with ribbons in her hair looking all innocent with lollipops and puppies juxtaposed with darkened images of Moore and a van in the background that has “Free Candy” spray painted on the side.
Look this a battle betwen McConnel and Bannon with Doug Jones thrown in the mix...McConnel has struck a devastating blow to Judge Moore/Bannon, how they get out of this political pickle is unknown. Moore’s interview with Hannity did him no favor.
I am looking at this through a polictical lens, not an innocent/guilty lens.
Personally, after the interview with Hannity, I believe Judge Moore innocent of the real allegation and guilty of the non-crime of dating age of consent “barely-women.” Since dating young women is not a crime, he should have stated that he dated all sorts of women in those years, although he does not remember these three particular women and that he is pursuing his legal paths to combat this offending defamation.
