What a difference 18 months can make.
Last May, Jon Stewart sat down for a rare, long interview with former Obama adviser David Axelrod for his podcast The Axe Files in front of a live audience of students at the University of Chicago’s Institute of Politics.
After a wide-ranging conversation that included Stewart’s assessment that Democrats had opened the door for Donald Trump by not governing effectively enough, a student stood up to ask him about some rumors surrounding Louis C.K., who had been his final guest on The Daily Show the previous summer. Knowing what we know now about C.K.’s disturbing history of sexual misconduct, Stewart’s answer was deeply problematic.
When the questioner noted that the interview came “after some of the rumors about Louis C.K.’s alleged harassment of female comedians,” Stewart stopped him, saying, “Whoa. Wait, what?” As the young man began to explain the situation as it had been reported in Gawker and elsewhere, Stewart let out a laugh and said, “Wait. I’m a little lost. So the internet said Louis harassed women.”
“You know who you’re talking to, right?” Stewart, who has never had a Twitter account, said when the questioner brought up tweets by women accusing C.K. “I didn’t see the tweets,” he said with a chuckle.
As actor James Urbaniak wrote when he shared the video on Twitter yesterday, “Quaint and enabling responses from a different time.”
“I apologize. I’m not that connected to that world,” Stewart added, turning more serious. “I don’t know what you’re talking about but—I can’t really answer. I don’t know what to say.”
“All I can tell you is I’ve worked with Louis for 30 years and he’s a wonderful man and person and I’ve never heard anything about this,”

Why is this news? Not a slam at you Aquila, but in general. Someone asked Stewart a question that he knew nothing about. And he didn’t answer the question.
Is that news? Not everyone lives and dies on Twitter. It’s nice to see someone who doesn’t.
These guys worked in bars. I would imagine there was a lot of stuff going on back then. Some of them fun, some ugly.
I am not a big fan of Jon Stewart, but I am not ready to hang him by association.

Agreed. I don’t like Stewart, but his response to an unrelated question about something he knew nothing about was an appropriate “I know nothing about it.”
CK is a staunch Democrat and vociferous Trump critic. The quality of Trump’s critics and Hillary supporters is amazing.
Always willing to follow the mob. There’s Hollywood style courage for you.
I’d venture to guess it’s because Stewart making a point of stating he’s known CK for 30 years and willing to vouch for his stellar character.
They are both fools imho.

Discussing a topic does not translate into support. I just found the whole article an example of what Millenials consider “news.” If you say you are not aware of something they turn on you. Of course, they are all “experts.”
How I would be filled with Joy if Jon strewart were caught masturbating in front of women. Just my luck he’s probably the one guy I n Hollywood who doesn’t.
It’s right there in the last quote where Stewart states he has worked with CK for 30 years.

Jon Stewart knew him for 30 years and did not know about him yet anyone else around him knew and would warn others.
I wonder what Jon Stewart himself has been doing?
