John Hillerman, the actor who made a career out of playing snooty types, including Tom Selleck's fastidious estate caretaker Jonathan Quayle Higgins III on Magnum, P.I., died Thursday. He was 84.
Hillerman, who received four Emmy nominations in consecutive years for portraying Higgins and won in 1987, died at his home in Houston, family spokeswoman Lori De Waal told the Associated Press. She said the cause of death had not been determined.
Hillerman also appeared as Higgins on episodes of Murder, She Wrote and Simon & Simon.

Great actor - I remember seeing him in Westerns in his younger days ...
I recognize all three of those men. They were character actors popular in the 60’s 70’ and early 80’s.
Funny thing is I don’t know there names.
The middle man is, of course John Hillarman.
The one on the right had his own series for a while.
He may be Monte Markham. The left side fellow, I know, but never did memorize his name. He was famous for his bluster.
RIP.
The man on the right is Liam Dunne. He played the judge at the end of “What’s Up Doc?”
The man on the left is David Huddleston, a/k/a the millionaire Jeffrey Lebowski, father of Maude, husband of Bunny (as opposed to the hippie Jeffrey Lebowski played by Jeff Bridges).
The Mauna Loa guy?
I’m often reminded of one of his lines, something like “A scratch on the Lamborghini - and no doubt you used spit on it to try to rub it off!”
I think its on Cinemax. You should watch it.
Well, you really know your actors.
Maybe that type of movie was from your favorites.
There were quite a few styles of western, from Roy Rogers to Clint Eastwood.
The sort of correct sometimes Simon Brimmer.
I forgot about Ellery Queen.

I forgot about Ellery Queen.
Oh My God!
Ellery Queen was a good series. I wonder if its on DVD or YouTube?
From left to right: David Huddleston, Hillerman, and Liam Dunn. A still from “Blazing Saddles.”
Damn, not many left from Blazing Saddles.
Burton Gilliam is the only one that I know of.
I was surprised to learn the man was a native Texan.
I really liked Magnum PI. Still do but I dont think its on Netflix any more.
RIP! He was good!
I love the look on his face when Howard Bannister (O’Neal) asks him if he can sit in the lobby after he has destroyed his hotel room.
But who will take care of Zeus and Apollo?
No way to watch...did away with my satelite back in 2008.
I do have some 2500-3000 movies and series on dvd and vcr...all from the late 30’s, 40’s, 50’s and 60’s and a few from the 70’s.
