The whole “Trial by jury of your peers” was built on the concept of “peers” being reasonable, educated, moral people. I wonder what this jury was made of?

I have been on jury duty and many of the jurors just sit there and do not follow the case, especially if it is somewhat technical.

Not only a jury of peers but there should be a minimum level of competency required. They should at least be able to read and write understand the English language and be able to follow instructions.
