If Dukakis had beaten Bush in '88, there would have been no Clintons nor Obamas

Earlier today your theory was that if not for 9/11, Bush the Younger would have been a one term president thus “saving us from Obama”.

What’s the next one?

You can stop with the “what ifs”. The 2016 US Presidential Election was encoded in the Book of Deuteronomy over 3500 years ago. YHWH is sovereign over His creation. Read your Bible and pray.

I love alternative history, but this simply would have never happened.

Bush was unstoppable in '88.

He was essentially running for a Reagan third term.

But Bush being Bush, he just couldn't help himself and showed his globalist, anti-American colors and deservedly lost in 1992.

Now a *realistic* question would be what if GHWB governed as a true heir to Reagan during his 4 years?

I think he would have crushed Clinton.

In fact, had Bush been more Reaganesque, I wager Clinton wouldn't have been the '92 nominee.

But I cannot think of who would have come out of the woodwork to run in that case.

If Reagan had never picked Bush, The Groper as VP, neither Bush
would have ever been President.

Apparently she has several in reserve if you look at her posting history.
They come often it seems.

DC Comics did a limited run series that asked, “What if Superman had landed in the Soviet Union instead of the United States?” I think it was called Superman: Red Son.

Had Michael Dukakis beat George H.W. Bush in 1988

Look, I understand your point, and I agree that both of the Bushes (as well as the entire Bush clan) can go F themselves for all I care. Earlier today, I tossed my "Decisions Point" book from GWB in the trash.

But to wish for a Dukakis presidency is ludicrous. The Democrats would have gotten stronger and terrorism attacks would have increased on our soil then.

The original post was an old SNL reference, as was mine. What if Eleanor Roosevelt could fly.

“...Bush was unstoppable in ‘88.

***********************************
And, sadly, “Reagan’s third term” turned out not to have begun in 1989 but, instead, didn’t begin until January 2017.

Imagine how America and the world would have been different had Bush the elder had actually been Trumpian. Things would have been far, far better.

You don’t have cheese puff of an idea what would have happened. Maybe the GOP wins in 92, Clinton wins in 96, W wins in 2000, etc. And what difference does it make?

The only good think I can say about the Democrats back then is that at least they knew how to still dress like adults.

Then again, they still had people from middle America and the south in high positions.

“Everything that rises that must converge.”

IOW, nature isn’t so at the mercy of chaos or original conditions as one might suppose. Tendencies in society can last a long time and drive disparate beginnings to the same endings. The situation today was primed to put a bull in the china shop regardless of what Dukakis might have done.

The deficit spending would have happened regardless such that Gingrich would still have triumphed through his Contract With America. The disappointment over how little changed after Gingrich put the Congress into Republican hands after thirty years in the wilderness would still be peaking at about the same time.

The Tea Party was inevitable and the election of Trump was its fruition.

The GOP would have run Dole and McLame repeatedly and lost each time. Perhaps Steve Forbes might have won in 2004. But if the Duke had been reelected that would mean the US really went in the...tank.
