Punishment without trial or conviction?

Doesn’t this turn the concept of the due process of justice upside down?

It’s a liberal lynch mob in action. There is more and more of this going around.

We don’t need no stinking principles!

Yes, and conservatives should be cautious about reveling in the public lynching of Spacey occurring in the press. Whether the allegations against Spacey are true or not, the actions being taken against him are no different than the condemnations and actions taken by the University of Virginia against fraternities when the fake Rolling Stone article came out and the actions of the public prosecutor and Duke University against the lacrosse team a few years ago.

The rule of law is being destroyed in this country. The punishment of citizens prior to trial and conviction is a travesty. Ultimately no one will be safe if private and public institutions delight in punishing the accused prior to due process. Throwing the presumption of innocence out the window, as well as due process, will destroy what remains of individual liberty.
